Repairs.

Over the years I have encountered just about every type of repair imaginable, whether its a broken headstock, a split banjo velum, dented paintwork or a double Bass run over with a Transit van, your in safe hands.

Warwick "Alien" Bass

The sides on these basses are Not reinforced and as they are made of Ovenkal (or amazakoue) they are very fragile and easily damaged.

The side is split through almost it's entire length.

...............

The weakest point ! Damaged side removed.

Finding a piece of Ovenkal to match would be pretty impossible, so a piece of mahogany was used to replace the damaged side.

Now the bass is fully repaired and the new side is colour matched and painstakingly wood grained to match the original Ovenkal sides.

Headless Gibson J40

This Gibson J40 is missing it's headstock completely.

...

Glued on and ready for the truss rod and fingerboard to be put back.

The fingerboard and truss are removed.

A new headstock is made and will be scarfe jointed onto the neck.

...

Carved, colourmatched, lacquered and assembled.

The missing neck?

This SG came into the workshop as a body, fingerboard and headstock.

It was decided that a three piece maple neck with valute should be made to replace the missing neck. You can see the new neck blank rough cut above the body.

As you can see opposite, a neck has been made using the original fingerboard. The new neck has been glued in to the body and is ready for finishing.

A Gibson Nighthawk neck and headstock looking a little detached !!!

The headstock has been set back in place and with the guitar securely fixed to a straightedge board has had two channels routed out for reinforcement fillets.

Reinforcement fillets are glued into place. When levelled the neck will be refinished.

This Hofner Violin bass has broken at the neck joint leaving the tenon still inside the body - someone has attempted to repair the damage using liquid nails!!!!

The old tenon is removed from the neck pocket ready to recieve the repaired neck

Fully repaired and ready for use

This Tele was dropped leaving a nasty dent and damaging a large area of paintwork. It looks drastic but this is a fairly straight forward repair to do.
