Carving the neck

The neck of an HT carvetop being carved by hand. All our necks are hand carved with a body file, a cliffton concave spokeshave, a standard spokeshave and sanding block.

This Guitar has now had a golden yellow stain applied. Once the binding has been cleaned it will be ready for lacquering.

 
   
 

One of the many hand made guitars being assembled. This guitar has a mahogany body and carved mahogany top with a maple, mahogany, maple, walnut binding.



Some of the jigs and patterns that are kept in the store room. All of these patterns play a major part in guitar making. We have made just about every style of guitar over the years including some oddball designs!!! All patterns are kept for re-use or reference.

This is the pin router, a simple machine with incredible accuracy.

A Burns Legend body on a jig which enables the trem cavity to be cut at the correct angle to give the springs clearance.
 
 

 

 

Some of the timber kept in the store room. We always keep a large stock of timber, body blanks, pre-cut necks and fingerboards ready for use.
